The Minister of Sports, Diego Galeano, affirmed that everything is ready for the holding of the Asu2022 South American Games, whose inauguration this Saturday will be attended by the Head of State, Mario Abdo Benítez, at the Defensores del Chaco stadium, in Assumption.
Galeano was summoned to the Government Palace by the president to learn about the latest details for the Odesur Games, which start this Saturday in the country and will run until October 15.
At a press conference, the minister of the National Sports Secretariat (SND) announced that the president will verify these days the different places where the athletes will exhibit their maximum skill and, in this way, ensure “that we are ready to do the competition” .
In that sense, he stressed that the support of the president and his entire team was fundamental. He assured that they are ready and above all, excited to host the South American Games.
“Some minor details are missing, such as those outside the sports venues that will be adjusted these days, but at a general level we can say that we finished on time and within the deadline, which was a concern we had a few months ago. At the organizational level, everything is ready, “he remarked.
He indicated that foreign delegations from 15 countries will be arriving in the capital during the week, and to a greater extent on Thursdays and Fridays.
Regarding investment in infrastructure, he announced that once the Odesur Games are over, a report will be submitted to make the entire process transparent. All documents will be available to citizens, she stressed.
On the other hand, he was confident that the Paraguayan team will have an outstanding participation and said that the idea is that about 50 medals can be obtained. In the last games held in Cochabamba, Bolivia, the Paraguayan athletes brought back 30 medals.
“We have come very well and I believe that we are going to leave the name of the country high. It is an important showcase for everyone”, said the head of the SND.
At another time, he spoke of an alliance with different institutions, especially with the Ministry of Education, so that students from different parts of the country can be present at the competitions.
The inauguration of Odesur 2022 is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. this Saturday in a great show, which will be attended by several national and international artists.
