The parade of the samba schools of the Special Group of Rio de Janeiro will have a new judgment model from the carnival of 2026. One of the changes is the increase in the number of judges, 18 more than in this year’s carnival. Now it will be a total of 54 judges, six for question. The change aims more transparency to the judgment of the parade.
The positioning of the judges’ booths in the sambadrome will also change. Two of them will be positioned in front of each other (one in the sector and another in the odd). This decision was based on consultation with the school leaders, in a seminar held in May.
Flow of the parade
The change in the evaluation booths occurs to make the parades even lighter, more fluid, with the associations ending three times to present the questions to the judges, instead of the four stops previously performed.

The changes were made official by the Independent League of Samba Schools (Liesa) on Wednesday (23), in a vote that was attended by presidents and representatives of the 12 samba schools of the special group.
The jurors’ notes remain closed at the end of each parade day, according to the decision of the associations.
Next year’s Carnival will take place on February 15, 16 and 17, with the six best evaluated to parade on Saturday of the champions on the 21st of the same month.
