After the leader of the Panameñista Party and former representative of the Pedregal corregimiento, David Vega, was arrested in the province of Chiriquí through an anti-drug operation, the group spoke out and assured that it would strictly adhere to its rules.

Vega was ordered provisional detention along with 27 other people accused of the crimes of Illicit Association and Money Laundering and sentences for four, as part of Operation Napoleon, carried out in the province of Chiriquí on January 25, 2023.

In a statement, the Panameñista Party indicated that they will initiate an internal investigation process and take the established measures against those members who, eventually, may have a final sentence for serious crimes (Art. 118 of the Statute).

They highlighted that the collective has more than 250,000 adherents nationwide, all of them humble and hard-working people, rejecting the fact that information is supposedly being used as a political weapon, “sharpening polarization and hate speech.” In our country”.

They reiterated that this is an isolated case and the collective cannot be held responsible for it.
