The Panamanian GFTeam, led by Professor Jorge Calviño, had an outstanding performance at the Abu Dhabi Jiu Jitsu Pro, held on August 10 in Bogotá, Colombia. The young talents of the team demonstrated their preparation and skills, standing out among high-level competitors.

Diego Rodriguez, in the children’s category (23 kg, white belt), won a well-deserved silver medal. At his young age, Diego showed great skill and strength, predicting a promising future in Jiu Jitsu. “It was incredible to be on the podium. I will continue training to win next time!” Diego said enthusiastically.

In the Teen category, Ricardo Sasso took home the gold medal in the No Gi (without uniform) category, in the 62 kg division with an orange belt. Ricardo demonstrated impeccable technique, dominating his opponents with determination and control. “I feel very proud to have represented Panama and to bring home the gold,” Ricardo said after his victory.

Carlos Calviño Mudarra excelled in both Gi (in uniform) and No Gi (without uniform) in the 60kg junior category with a blue belt. Carlos took home the silver medal in Gi and the gold in No Gi, highlighting his ability to adapt and shine in any setting. “This is just the beginning; I have so much more to achieve,” Carlos said confidently.

Jorge Calviño Mudarra, Carlos’ brother, won the silver medal in the 62 kg black belt category. In his recent promotion to black belt, Jorge demonstrated his ability to compete at the highest level, facing experienced rivals and showing a solid transition in this new stage. “Every fight is a learning experience, and this silver medal motivates me to continue improving,” Jorge reflected after the competition.

The GFTeam Panama continues to establish itself as a benchmark in international Jiu Jitsu, proudly taking the name of the country to the top. These achievements reflect the effort, dedication and spirit of improvement of its athletes, who continue to make history in each competition.
