Panamanian Foreign Ministry grants approval to Jesusa Rodríguez as ambassador of Mexico

The Panamanian Foreign Ministry granted the approval in favor of Laura María de Jesús Rodríguez, better known as Jesusa Rodríguez, as ambassador of Mexico in Panama, after Pedro Salmerón declined his nomination due to the controversy over allegations of alleged sexual harassment.

This was confirmed on the morning of this Tuesday, June 14, by the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of that country, Marcelo Ebrard, in the middle of the morning press conference from the National Palace, in the Mexican presidency.

“We already have the approval, as of June 1, for the appointment of Laura María de Jesús Rodríguez, better known as Jesusa Rodríguez, an endearing companion, friend, outstanding feminist, a woman who has done a lot for the theater, for the spaces alternatives,” Ebrard said.

In addition, he stressed that he personally thanked the Panamanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Erika Mouynes, and the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo, for this acceptance of the appointment during the IX Summit of the Americas, which took place in Los Angeles, United States, from 6 to June 10, 2022.
