The Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) supports Panamanian productions that have won the Cine Fund with the project “Cine Cultura en tu comunidad” (Cinema Culture in your community), which makes the work of Panamanian filmmakers visible through film screenings and discussions in different parks and communities in the country.
At its second stop, “Cine Cultura en tu comunidad” arrived at Andrés Bello Park, in the Bella Vista district, where entire families enjoyed a movie night with the screening of “Me dicen El Panzer,” a story inspired by the life of renowned soccer player Rommel Fernández Gutiérrez, which shows the passion for soccer, perseverance and, above all, how sport transforms lives.
Felipe Baloy and Juan Ramón Solís, prominent Panamanian soccer players, were invited to this activity and mentioned that, like Rommel Fernández, they had to overcome obstacles and barriers to make soccer their profession.
Jairo Ramos, producer of Me dicen El Panzer, said, “We are very proud to share a uniquely Panamanian story, made with great effort and sacrifice. It took nine years of research between Club Deportivo Tenerife and El Chorrillo, to learn about the life of Rommel Fernández and to portray it as best as possible on the screen.”
The Freestylefutbol Club opened the event with a demonstration of this discipline, which has been established internationally for 13 years.
The next stop of Cine Cultura in your community will be on September 28 at the Los Andes Sports Complex # 2.
