The first Meeting of Miners and Suppliers, in which the mining companies/promoters will learn about the installed local capacities of the suppliers affiliated to the Mining Chamber of Panama CAMIPA, will be held on September 8 with the aim of promoting business opportunities generating a space for interaction between metallic and non-metallic mining companies, with service providers
The president of CAMIPA, Roberto Cuevas, indicated that the economic benefits of sustainable mining are not limited to its contributions in terms of production, direct investment, exports, foreign exchange, taxes, royalties and jobs. “Mining has direct and indirect impacts on other economic activities, through the consumption of multiple goods and services,” he stressed.
Cuevas warned that it is premature to project the value of the transactions that are achieved in the business roundtable, but as an example he recalled that a single company like Cobre Panamá, in 2021 alone, paid some US$550 million in purchases to some 1,850 local suppliers.
CAMIPA expects that more than fifty companies will attend this event and among them, as exhibitors will be specialists from Cobre Panamá, Minera Cerro Quema, ARGOS, EPIROC, CELSIA and Mobile Welding. Additionally, the president of the Association of Industrial Mining Suppliers of Chile, Sergio Hernández, will offer a keynote address on “The Chilean experience in mining value chains”.
