“For the first time in Panama, this Annual Aquaculture Congress of the World Aquaculture Society is going to take place, which is the World Aquaculture Association that has more than 3,000 members, more than a thousand people are expected and 70 companies between local and international have already been confirmed. because there is not only a conference, there is also a commercial area, a fair”, explained Torrijos.
Panama’s aquaculture sector (fish and shrimp together) is one of the country’s main export items. The most farmed species in Panama are fish (tilapia, cobia, pompano) and shrimp.
