Panama will face Belize in the opening of the FIBA ​​Centrobasket U-17 Men’s Championship

The Panamanian Basketball Federation – FEPABA announces to the Sports Media (Press, Radio, Television and Digital), the list of the National Team that will represent us in the Men’s U-17 Centrobasket Championship, which will be played from Wednesday, July 26 to Sunday, July 30 at the Belize Civic Center in Belize City; Belize.

Below is the list of the twelve (12) players of our U-17 National Team:

Daniel Machore, Lionel McDonald, Diego Quintero, Hector Saavedra, Hector Samaniego, Peter Kelly, David Wright, Isaac Wright, Yasid Acosta, Earl Roberts, Eric Cardenas, and Luis Poyatos.

The coaching staff is led by Adriano Macías, assisted by Jamaal Levy and Bryan Waithe; Joel González, prop.

Group A:

  1. Jamaica
  2. Panama
  3. belize
  4. Puerto Rico
    B Group:
  5. Mexico
  6. Dominican Republic
  7. Costa Rica
  8. The Savior

In the Group Phase each team will play one match against each rival in their group. The teams that occupy the first two places in each group will advance to the Semifinals and the rest will play for positions 5 to 8. In the Semifinals the teams will meet as follows: 1A vs. 2B and 1B vs. 2A. The winners will play the Final and the losers for third place.

The three best teams from the Centrobasket Under-17 Championship will qualify for the FIBA ​​Under-18 Americas Championship in 2024.

It should be noted that in 2021 Puerto Rico won the gold medal in the Centrobasket U-17 Championship, for the fifth time in its history, by beating Mexico in the Final.

The U-17 men’s national team traveled today, Monday, July 24, in the morning and will play on the opening date on Wednesday, July 26, against the locals at 9:30 p.m.; The following day, Thursday the 27th at 7:30 p.m., they will do so against Puerto Rico and at the same time on Friday the 28th they will close the regular round against Jamaica.
