Panama revealed on Wednesday morning, July 17, the list of 20 players that make up the U18 national team for the Pre-World Championship of the category to be played in Panama City between August 2 and 11, putting 3 places at the 2025 World Cup and the participation of 14 teams at stake.
Carlos César Maldonado, former Major League player and coach of the national team, told Podcast Fedebeis that the team is “ready and well prepared to do well in the tournament.”
“We are going to go out and play good baseball, the boys are aware of the importance of this competition and we will go out and play our best baseball, to give Panama a good satisfaction,” he said.
In his statements, Maldonado also said that the right-handed pitcher from Cocles, Dereck Gómez, with a lot of international experience, will be the starter for Panama in the opening game, when Panama faces Puerto Rico, starting at 8:00 pm at the Rod Carew stadium.
