The deaths from Covid-19 in Panama continue to decline, according to reports released daily by the epidemiology department of the Ministry of Health (MINSA). Until this Sunday, the authorities reported 9 deaths from the disease so far in April.
The epidemiological reports of this month reported two (2) deaths on Monday 4, two (2) on Wednesday 7, two (2) on Friday 9, while on April 11, 12 and 17 only one death was recorded, respectively . In total one eleven (11) days in which no deaths from Covid-19 were reported.
In the first 17 days of March, 69 deaths from Covid-19 were recorded nationwide. The month began with 10 deaths, then continued with a report of between three (3) and seven (7) daily deaths. On March 6 and 12 there were no deaths from the virus.
In a recent report, the Minsa indicated that the groups with the highest number of deaths are between 60 and 79 years old, over 80 years old, followed by patients between 40 and 59 years old. In two years, some 48 people under the age of 20 have died from Covid-19.
4 thousand 248 new cases
In the first 17 days of April, a cumulative 4,248 new positive cases of Covid-19 were reported. The day with the least amount of new infections was this Saturday, April 16, with 123 cases, while the highest number of new positives was Wednesday, April 13, with 397 cases.
As for hospitalizations for the Covid-19 virus, for this April 17 there were 73 patients in various hospital centers in the country: 61 in wards and 12 in intensive care units. By April 10, the epidemiological authorities of the Ministry of Health registered 100 people in hospitals due to the disease.
Panama closed this Sunday, April 17, with 2,395 active cases of Covid-19 and a positivity of 5.1% in tests carried out nationwide.
