From this July 28, the Panama Pacific International Airport resumes its operations to the public, after completing the remodeling of the passenger terminal, with more comfortable and safe facilities.
The Panama Pacifico airport will primarily serve the low-cost airline market segment. The restart of operations coincides with the return of the Ecuadorian airline Aeroregional, which will initially offer 2 weekly frequencies of charter flights, to and from Guayaquil in Boeing 737-400 aircraft with a capacity of 145 passengers.
The general manager of the Tocumen Raffoul Arab International Airport said that: “The reopening of the Panama Pacific Airport marks a key milestone in the recovery process of Tocumen’s operations as an operating company and for national tourism, because it opens a new door to Panama as a leisure and shopping destination”.
The Panama Pacific Passenger Terminal was closed due to the pandemic in March 2020. Since then, Tocumen has focused on its remodeling and adaptation for international tourists. “We have successfully completed the modernization of the Terminal, optimizing its operational capacity, to provide quality service to passengers and airlines,” said Arab.
The remodeling of the air terminal represented an investment of almost one million dollars and included the expansion of departure lounges, baggage arrival and departure areas, adaptation for commercial areas, redistribution of spaces in check-in controls, migration, renovation of bathrooms, construction of rainwater channels, waterproofing of roofs, renovation of air conditioning systems and operating areas, among other adjustments.
In the coming weeks, the return of other low-cost airlines is expected, operating from the Panama Pacifico terminal.
Tocumen SA operates the international airport of Tocumen, and the regional terminals of Panama Pacifico, Enrique Malek in David, Svcarlett Martínez in Río Hato and Enrique Jiménez in Colón.
