Panama Metro blanked Herrera, while Coclé knocked out Veraguas in Youth Baseball activity

Panama Metro blanked Herrera 6 runs to 0 on Thursday night and Occidente got its second victory of the championship, defeating Colón 2-1 in 10 innings, in what was the sixth day of the LIV National Youth Baseball Championship, Copa Caja de Savings dedicated this year to Magaly Medina.

The day was cut into two games, since Bocas and Darién did not see action due to the rain, the same happened in the West, where there was no commitment against Chiriquí, after a heavy downpour.

Metro 6, Herrera 0

Panama Metro begins to take flight and went through the route of the blanking of Herrera with great pitching work by Adrián Ardines who opened the game working 5.0 innings and relief from Roberto Domínguez who walked 4.0 innings, to secure the victory and set a record of 3 wins and 3 losses, playing for .500 points.

Herrera was limited to 4 hits, with few liberties, while Metro dispatched 7 hits with 2 errors, scoring 1 run in the 4th, 1 in the 5th and 4 in the 6th, highlighting the offense of Nicolás Araúz who went 2-4 with 2 towed.

The defeat was for the star Bryant Vergara from Herrera who worked 4.2 innings with 5 hits, 2 earned runs, striking out 5 and with one walk.

West gets first win

Occidente battled in 10 innings to be able to get its second win of the season, this time against Colón, 2 runs to 1 in a game played at Rod Carew Stadium, on the afternoon of Thursday, January 12.

Colón scored a run in the bottom of the first inning and Occidente tied the game in the top of the ninth, forcing a tenth inning where Occidentales scored and won the game.

Occidente had 5 hits with 1 error, highlighting Jeremy Lezcano 4-2 and Rodney Morales 5-2, to be the best offensively. The “Beep Beep” only had 4 hits, completely off on offense, they made 2 errors and only one hairline. The best at bats for Colón were Omar Ortega 4-2, Mario Ávila 3-1 and Julio Argüelles 4-1.

Win the game Jean Samudio, third of three pitchers used by manager Juan Tinoco, working 2.0 innings, scoreless. He loses Edwin Montenegro.
