Panama was placed in Group B of the VII World Baseball Championship to be played in Tainan, Taiwan between July 28 and August 6, as reported by the World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC) in a statement sent to the National Federations classified to the event.

Panama will be in Group B together with the World and American champion, the United States, as well as the Dominican Republic (wild card of America), Korea, New Zealand and the Czech Republic.

“We are preparing hard for that event, without a doubt an interesting group, we are going to play hard every game and try to get among the best teams in the world,” said manager Elpidio Pinto.

The Panamanian team qualified in its own right after reaching one of the four places available in the World Cup, played a month ago in the city of Aguascalientes, Mexico. The United States, Venezuela and Mexico were also classified.

In Group A will be the owner of the house, Taiwan, Venezuela, Mexico, Germany, Japan and Australia (wild card of Oceania).

Panama is getting ready for the competition and is already training in the Azuero area, where it holds preparation matches.

In its statement, the WBSC informed that the calendar will be sent in a short time.
