The president of Panama, José Raúl Mulino, arrived in Uruguay to attend the Mercosur Summit, where the country’s incorporation as an Associated State of the commercial bloc will be formalized. This event represents a significant milestone in Panama’s integration into one of the most robust economies in the world.
In addition to Panama, Mercosur has Associated States such as Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana and Suriname, while Bolivia is in the process of formalizing its accession to the bloc.
Mercosur, which includes Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay, is considered the fifth global economy, with a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of 4.5 trillion dollars.
Panama’s participation in this bloc opens new commercial and diplomatic opportunities, strengthening its position in the international arena and allowing Panamanian companies to access markets in South America.
President Mulino is accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Javier Martínez-Acha; the Minister of Commerce, Julio Moltó; and the Minister of Economy, Felipe Chapman.
