Despite the fact that no cases of monkeypox have yet been reported in Panama, the Ministry of Health is already preparing for the eventuality that this occurs.
Health Minister Luis Francisco Sucre said he will declare an alert and health surveillance for this virus.
“I have given instructions to declare a health alert for the monkey virus. It establishes a series of health plans and protocols for surveillance in our country,” he reported through his Twitter account.
Sucre had already given an order to set up two preventive isolation rooms at the Irma Lourdes de Tzanetatos Hospital and the San Miguel Arcángel Hospital, so that they are ready if monkeypox reaches Panama.

If you present any of these symptoms, it is recommended to avoid physical contact with other people and home isolation, in addition to seeking medical help.
