Foreign Minister Janaina Tewaney Mencomo, together with Minister of Commerce and Industry, Federico Alfaro Boyd, traveled to the United States to hold important meetings with senior US officials, managing to strengthen the Panamanian trade and foreign policy agenda on issues of mutual interest.
In addition, relationships and shared values were strengthened on issues of democracy, transparency, growth and sustainable development, irregular migration and climate goals for Panama with a view to the Our Ocean 2023 Conference, among the topics addressed.
Panama and the United States enjoy a solid relationship based on shared values such as the rule of law, Human Rights, (DDHH) and Democracy, aligned on important issues and reiterating the commitment to a world order based on rules and the well-being of the international community.
At this juncture, Minister Tewaney highlighted the vision of President Laurentino Cortizo Cohen interested in continuing to promote regional efforts and initiatives to strengthen institutions, progress, integral development, and peace in the hemisphere.
Regarding security and migration issues, the Panamanian delegation, in a meeting with the Secretary of State of the United States, Antony J. Blinken, detailed the consequences in terms of environmental degradation that already affects the Darienita National Park.
