The population must continue to cooperate with biosecurity measures such as physical distancing, use of masks, hand washing, and applying the vaccine.
The Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported that although Panama registers a decrease in the main indicators of the pandemic such as deaths, effective reproduction number (RT), hospitalizations and positivity, it cannot yet be declared that the country has come out of the fourth wave of COVID-19 infections.
Melva Cruz, national director of Public Health of the Minsa stressed that the population must continue to cooperate with biosecurity measures such as physical distancing, use of masks, hand washing and going to apply the vaccine, since there is a significant percentage of people lagging behind in the immunization against the virus.
He stressed that to estimate an end of the fourth wave, the Rt must be reduced below 1; positivity in less than 5% as well as having a favorable installed capacity.
