Dr. Lourdes Moreno, National Head of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health, gave details on Radio Panama about the arrival of the Bivalent vaccine doses in our country and what the vaccination process will be like for the general population.
“This Bivalent vaccine brings the original strain of the coronavirus in addition to the Omicron and with these new vaccines we want to reduce the number of new cases and can increase immunity in people, so that their bodies generate more antibodies,” Moreno said.
In total there are 75,600 doses of the Bivalent vaccine that arrived in Panama and that will be distributed in the 15 health regions nationwide with priority for areas of difficult access.
On the way to get this vaccine, Moreno stressed that it must be clear that two previous doses must have been given “it is very important that the population knows that in order to apply this vaccine it is necessary to have two doses of the monovalent vaccine applied and it is It is necessary to wait two months after the last dose applied to be able to get this booster with the Bivalent vaccine.
About the places where this Bivalent vaccine will be placed, Dr. Moreno said “It will be applied in all health centers and polyclinics, initially health personnel from both the Minsa and the Social Security and Health Fund will be vaccinated private, to essential groups such as the police, firefighters, civil protection, the Red Cross, the elderly, the chronically ill because although it is true that there has been a decrease in cases, people are not being tested and people who have sick with the virus and they arrive at medical centers quite affected ”.
He also called on the population to maintain Biosecurity measures, keep their masks now that many summer activities that are leisure are coming, but without forgetting to take care of themselves and their families.
