Panama had a fabulous debut in the World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, winning 11 runs to 0 against the Argentine team in the World Baseball Classic 2023 qualifying game.
According to data provided by the Panamanian Baseball Federation, Panamanian starter Humberto Mejía worked in great shape during 4.0 good innings, without allowing annotations, with only 2 isolated hits, without walks and 5 strikeouts, for a tremendous performance on the mound.
Panama unleashed a fierce offense with a string of 12 hits, scoring one run in the bottom of the second, 2 in the third, 2 in the fourth and 6 in the sixth, to complete 11 runs.
In the bottom of the third inning, the bombing of the prospect of the Los Angeles Dodgers, José Ramos with one on board, stood out to start the Panamanian party.
According to the Fedebeis press release, the best batters for Panama were: Allen Córdoba 3-2 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored, Rubén Tejada 5-2 with two RBIs, José Ramos 3-2 with two RBIs and 2 runs scored, Carlos Sánchez 4-2 and Rodrigo Orozco Jr. 4-1 with a couple of RBIs.
Panama, with a 1-0 record, will return to the field this Tuesday at 8:00 pm to face the Brazilian team that has a 2-0 record.
