According to the Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, this fourth dose will be optional for the entire population over 50 years of age, mainly those with chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, among others.
As of this Monday, April 25, Panama approved the application of a fourth dose of the vaccine against Covid-19, this for immunosuppressed people over 12 years of age. The application of this second reinforcement dose will be from the fourth month of having applied the first reinforcement (third dose).
According to the Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, this fourth dose will be optional for the entire population over 50 years of age, mainly those with chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, among others.
The aforementioned population can go to place this new dose as of the date in health centers and posts, polycenters, polyclinics, national and regional hospitals, in addition to facilities enabled by Operation PanavaC-19.
The minister assured that Panama has sufficient vaccines for the application of this fourth dose in the population groups already indicated.
Epidemiology Report
Regarding the cases registered by Covid-19, the Minsa explained that they account for 267 new cases, for a cumulative of 772,086 confirmed cases. They detailed that no deaths were reported for the last 24 hours for a cumulative of 8,182 deaths and a lethality of 1.1%.
To date, there are 760,466 recovered people, of which 267 are added to this group. 3,771 tests were applied for a positivity of 7.1%.
There are 3,438 active cases throughout the country, of which 3,367 are in home isolation and 71 hospitalized. Those in isolation are divided into 3,354 at home and 13 in hotels. Those hospitalized are 64 in the ward and 7 in the ICU.
The districts with the highest incidence of cases are La Pintada in Coclé with 21; San Francisco 18 and Bella Vista 14, in the city of Panama and Santiago in Veraguas with 12.
