Members of the organizing team of the tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP10) of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control and the third session of the Meeting of the Parties (MOP3) of the Trade Elimination Protocol Illegal Tobacco Products, together with the head of the Portfolio, Luis Francisco Sucre, toured a coordination and monitoring tour at the Panama Convention Center, a facility that will host an important event.
In this sense, the national directors of the Minsa explained every detail within the organization of the COP-10 and MOP 3 focused on guaranteeing the results expected in the international event.
Among the points addressed during the tour are the issue of security, transportation (airport-hotel-airport), food, communication, visa process for participants, work areas, technology, location of furniture and everything regarding the Elements used in the logistics for the opening and closing.
Parties to the WHO FCTC and the Protocol will meet to make decisions aimed at continuing to protect people around the world from the devastating consequences of tobacco use and exposure to tobacco smoke on health, society, the economy and the environment, as well as to eliminate all forms of illicit trade in tobacco products.
It should be reiterated that Panama has been working on tobacco control for many years, this has had an impact on the prevalence of use of tobacco products in the country.
COP-10 will take place from November 20 to 25, while MOP 3 will take place from November 27 to 30.
Ten years have passed since the Region of the Americas hosted the fourth Conference of the Parties to the FCTC in the Oriental Republic of Uruguay in 2010.
