Panama defeated Argentina 9 runs to 3 and qualified directly for the 2023 Pan American Games Baseball Tournament in Chile, scheduled to be played between October 21 and 27 of this year.
The Panamanian team beat Argentina with great work on the mound of right-hander Manuel Campos, who bathed in glory by working the entire route with 7.0 innings worked, 3 scores, all clean, with 1 bowling and 5 strikeouts, to take the win.
Panama qualifies for the Pan American Games, the continent’s top sporting event, which will take place in Santiago de Chile, between October 20 and November 5, with 41 nations and 39 sports disciplines.
José Mordock, the Most Valuable Player of the 2023 Major Baseball National Championship went 2-2 with 4 RBIs, Jhonny Santos 4-2 with 2 runs scored and Eduardo Thomas 3-2, to be the best for Panama.
Panama wisely decided to access the repechage route, on the way to the Pan American Games, with the tournament in Argentina, since it had declined its participation (due to World Classic commitments) in the Central American qualifying round.
