Palmeiras ties but maintains the eight point lead

Palmeiras’ coach, the Portuguese Abel Ferreira, was cautious and booked to most of his Headlines for next Tuesday’s game against Athletico Paranaense for the semifinals of the Copa Libertadores.

Of his ideal eleven, Ferreira only used the goalkeeper Weverton and midfielders Danilo and Gustavo Scarpa. Thus, Palmeiras felt the lack of a team, especially in the first few minutes almost completely dominated by the locals.

With goals from Luan and Artur, Bragantino struck first, but Palmeiras pulled one back before the break through Vanderlan.

He tied in the second stage with a goal from the Uruguayan Michael Merentiel, which led the green team of Sao Paulo to 51 points, eight more than Flamengo.

Athletico Paranaense also played this Saturday and, like Palmeiras, rested its starters, but had better luck against Fluminense and won 1-0, with a goal from Pablo, after a brilliant play by the Argentine Tomás Cuello.

With this result, both teams have been left with 42 points, one less than Flamengo.

The Rio de Janeiro team will be on the field this Sunday and has already announced that it will also line up its substitutes against Ceará, as it will receive on Wednesday the Velez Sarsfield for the second leg of the Libertadores semifinals, after thrashing 0-4 in Buenos Aires.

Even so, Ceará, located in box 15 with 27 points, could be an easy rival for the “B team” of flamingowhich among others has Diego Ribas, Everton Cebolinha and Marinho.
