He Palmeiraswho came from three consecutive defeats, achieved an agonizing 1-1 draw this Sunday in their visit to International and, although it remains in third place in the Brazilian league, it is moving away from Botafogo and Flamengo, who are ahead of it in the standings.
The four consecutive games without a win represent Palmeiras’ worst streak since Portuguese coach Abel Ferreira took over the reins of the team in October 2022, and predict the beginning of a possible crisis at the São Paulo club.
This Sunday, in the twenty-first round of the tournament, they stumbled against Internacional, which with that result reached 21 points and is on the edge of the relegation zone, without many aspirations.
Inter took the lead in the first half and Palmeiras seemed headed for another defeat, but it was not until Rony’s goal in the 88th minute that sealed a draw that did not disguise the poor form of Ferreira’s team.
Botafogo is at the top of the table with 43 points, having beaten bottom club Atlético Goianense 4-1 on Saturday. Flamengo is next with three points less, having lost to São Paulo 1-0 on this matchday, and Palmeiras remains third with 37 points, despite the defeat on Sunday.
However, that position is threatened by two teams that will face each other on Monday to complete the day: Fortaleza, which has 36 points, and Cruzeiro, which has 35.
