Palmeiras holds off Corinthians and wins the Paulista Feminino four

Palmeiras is the four-time women’s champion of São Paulo. This Sunday (14), the Palestrinas lost 1-0 to Corinthians, at Canindé, in São Paulo, but benefited from the 5-1 defeat in the first leg, a week ago, at Arena Barueri, staying ahead on the aggregate score.Palmeiras holds off Corinthians and wins the Paulista Feminino four

Champion for the first time in 2001, Palmeiras won their third São Paulo title since the club’s resumption of the sport six years ago. With four trophies, the Alviverdes equaled Santos, Juventus and Corinthians themselves as the biggest winners of the country’s main women’s state tournament.

The title crowns the most successful season of Palestine women’s football since 2019. There were three titles in the year. In addition to Paulistão, Palmeiras won the Copa do Brasil against Ferroviária and the Brasil Ladies Cup against Grêmio – coincidentally, also at Canindé.

The match also marked the farewell of Amanda Gutierres. The striker had 80% of her economic rights negotiated by Palmeiras with Boston Legacy, from the United States, for US$1.1 million (R$5.8 million). The fifth most expensive sale in women’s football worldwide and the largest in Brazil. The center forward became, in 2025, Alviverde’s top scorer, with 74 goals in 102 games.

Needing a big turnaround in the match, Corinthians threw themselves into the attack in the first half, but were inaccurate in their passes (less than 70% accuracy) and in their shots. The best chance was in stoppage time, when midfielder Duda Sampaio received the ball in the middle of the area and passed it to striker Vic Albuquerque to hit goalkeeper Kate Tapia. The ball slowly stopped at the right post.

In the second half, after five minutes, after a cross from the left, Tapia let the ball slip into the feet of Gabi Zanotti, who was brought down by defender Pati Maldaner. The midfielder herself took the shot and put Brabas in front. But the Corinthian reaction stopped there.

Coach Lucas Piccinato filled the black and white team with attackers, but without being able to scare Palmeiras, armed by coach Rosana Augusto to be dangerous on counterattacks. In one of them, in the 42nd minute, striker Greicy Landazury crossed from the right and midfielder Joselyn Espilanes, with a volley, sent it into the net, but the goal was disallowed for offside. There was no need. The party at Canindé was a Palestine one.

Decisions

Still this Sunday, two other state champions will be announced. At 3pm (Brasília time), Coritiba will host Toledo at the Francisco Muraro Stadium, in Curitiba, in the final of the Paraná Women’s Championship.

Coxa won the first leg, a week ago, 2-0 at the Estádio 14 de Outubro, in Toledo (PR), and now they could lose by a goal difference, leaving them with the unprecedented trophy, after two consecutive runners-up. The country club – which revealed striker Jhonson, from Corinthians and the Brazilian team – is also aiming for its first victory, after being in second place five times.

The champion qualifies for the next edition of Series A3 (third division) of the Brazilian Championship. Both finalists are guaranteed in next year’s Copa do Brasil.

Later, at 3:30 pm, the Maranhense Women’s final begins, between Iape and Sampaio Corrêa, in Castelão. Due to the best campaign, Iape, current three-time champion, has the advantage of a draw to take the title and equal Internacional and Viana as the biggest winner of the State.

For Sampaio, only the triumph matters to keep the cup after eight years. The winner takes a place in the Brasileirão A3 and in the Copa do Brasil next season.

Champions

On Saturday (13), there was a party at the women’s State Championships in Rio Grande do Norte and Rondônia. In Potiguar, União de Natal won the fifth championship by beating Potyguar Seridoense 3-2 on penalties, after a goalless draw in normal time. Goalkeeper Miriam saved two shots and was the highlight of the team from the capital, which hosted the match at the Juvenal Lamartine Stadium.

In Rondônia, the cup went to Desportiva Itapuense, who beat Brazuca 3-0 at the Heitor Costa Football Development Center, in Porto Velho. Full-back Vivi, striker Caren and midfielder Monique scored the goals for the Itapuã do Oeste (RO) team. Both União and Itapuense qualified for the Brasileirão A3 and the Copa do Brasil.
