Palmeiras is the first finalist in the Paulista Women’s Football Championship. This Saturday (9), Palestrinas defeated Ferroviária 2-1 at Allianz Parque, in São Paulo, in the second game of the match valid for the semi-finals of the competition. Verdão is looking for the third state title in history among women, after victories in 2001 and 2022.
The team led by Camilla Orlando will face in the final the winner of the clash between Corinthians and São Paulo, who will play the second leg of the other semi-final next Sunday (10), at 11am (Brasíli time), at the Neo Química Arena. Last week, Brabas won the first game 1-0, at Canindé, also in the capital of São Paulo, thanks to a goal from midfielder Duda Sampaio, and have the advantage of a draw.
In the previous duel, a week ago, the teams drew 1-1, at Arena da Fonte Luminosa, in Araraquara (SP). The Guerreiras Grenás, three-time state champions and who were trying to match Santos, Corinthians and Juventus (biggest winners, with four titles), came out ahead. At 28 minutes, the interior team had a penalty awarded, by defender Poliana on attacker Darlene, with the help of VAR (video referee). Full-back Kati took the shot and opened the scoring.
At 48, defender Luana was sent off after a harsh tackle on striker Laís Estevam, again with the participation of VAR, leaving Ferroviária with one less. Two minutes later, Ingryd received the ball in the half-moon and sent it to midfielder Brena, who shot hard from the edge of the small area to leave everything equal.
Palmeiras’ numerical advantage came to an end in the 16th minute of the final stage, with the expulsion of striker Tainá Maranhão, also with VAR intervention, for pulling Kati’s hair. Even so, the Palestrinas reached the turnaround in the 30th minute. After a corner kick, Poliana headed the ball, goalkeeper Luciana saved it and the defender herself took advantage of the rebound to find the net and declare the alviverde classification.
