Still dreaming of the Brazilian title, Palmeiras faces Vasco, starting at 4 pm (Brasília time) this Sunday (22) at the Mané Garrincha stadium, in Brasília. National Radio broadcasts the match valid for the 27th round of the Brazilian Championship.
Botafogo’s main competitor in the Brazilian Championship title race, Verdão is trying to reach its fifth consecutive victory in the competition. To do so, it will have to deal with a major absence, that of striker Estevão, who has a muscle injury in his left thigh. The player who will be available again is midfielder Zé Rafael, who should start on the bench.
As there are no other competitions to focus on, the team led by Portuguese coach Abel Ferreira should enter the field with full strength: Weverton; Marcos Rocha, Gómez, Murilo and Vanderlan; Aníbal Moreno, Richard Ríos and Maurício; Felipe Anderson, Rony and Flaco López.
To get the much-desired three points, Palmeiras will have to beat Vasco, who are on the rise in the competition, with a run of six games without losing (three wins and three draws).
Despite scoring the goal that sealed a 1-1 draw with Flamengo last weekend, attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho is still expected to remain out of the starting lineup. As such, coach Rafael Paiva is expected to field a team with the following formation: Léo Jardim; Paulo Henrique, João Victor, Maicon and Lucas Piton; Hugo Moura, Mateus Carvalho and Payet; David, Rayan and Vegetti.
Fight for G4
Now the screen of TV Brazil makes room for the Brazilian Championship Series B. Starting at 6:30 pm, the public broadcaster will show a match between two teams seeking to secure access to Series A in 2025: Ceará and Vila Nova.
Vozão, who started the 28th round in 8th place with 39 points, will host Tigre at Castelão, who is fighting round by round for the top positions.
