The Venezuelan movement in solidarity with Palestine today deployed a giant Palestine flag in the Los Ruices de Caracas distributor. The action was framed in a global call to make the Palestinian flag visible and raise awareness about the situation that the people of the Gaza Strip is going through. The main objective of the initiative is to sensitize the Venezuelan population and reaffirm the country’s commitment to the international humanitarian cause.
The spokeswoman of the movement, Roxana Lagado, declared that the action sought that “all of Caracas see it” and “sensitize with the genocide that happens today in the Gaza Strip.” He stressed that, from Venezuela and Latin America, the voice rises against the “genocidal” actions and against the Israeli prime minister, Benjamín Netanyahu, whom he described as “war criminal.”
The protest adds to a series of demonstrations that seek to denounce the situation in the region. Laguado emphasized the need for the Palestinian people, especially women and children, to receive more solidarity and concrete actions from the international community. He called on the authorities of Venezuela and throughout Latin America to take more forceful measures and “take more actions” in international forums.
The act in the Los Ruices distributor, one of the nerve points of the capital, allowed the flag to be seen by thousands of people who travel on the Francisco Fajardo highway. The massive visibility of the flag seeks to generate a visual impact that incites reflection and debate on the conflict in the Middle East. The peaceful protest reaffirms the position of a sector of Venezuelan society that aligns with the Palestinian cause, considering it a struggle for freedom and justice.
