The chronicler of Cabudare, Palavecino municipality (Lara state), Américo Cortez participated in a discussion about the coup d’état in April 2002 perpetrated by the Venezuelan right. “The gallantry of the people in twisting history” to restore the Bolivarian government that President Hugo Chávez was leading at the time.
He made reference to the fact that “the coup leader Pedro Carmona’s speech was an embarrassment for democracy, all institutional powers were overthrown,” pointing out that “the business community and the cowardly military class placed that president.”
He stressed the fact of the call for peace and forgiveness of President Hugo Chávez “and as had never been seen anywhere on the planet the President arrived, instead of with a machete to cut off his head he arrives with a Christ forgiving all those who participated in the hit,” he added.
The activity took place in the Casa del Abuelo in the Agua Viva parish together with members of the Lara State Memory and Heritage History Network.
On the other hand, the historian Pedro Esser was also present at the activity, where he expressed “those days marked the history of the country in the face of the reaction of the people who demanded the presence of Chávez at all times and also denounced that it was a coup de condition”.
“Venezuela was and will always be in the eye of the hurricane due to the amount of available resources,” said Professor Esser.
Entrepreneurs also remembered
At the headquarters of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) in the Palavecino municipality, the entrepreneurs also recalled the events that occurred from April 11 to 14 twenty years ago, reviewing graphic testimonies from a collection of photographs compiled by the government Bolivarian, through the Communication and Information portfolio as a contribution to the history of the Venezuelan people.
