Paint factory in Yare burned down

A large explosion was recorded at the Reinco, CA paint factory, located in the Parcelamiento Industrial Pintuy urbanization, at Km 8 of the San Francisco de Yare-Ocumare del Tuy national highway, in the Simón Bolívar municipality (Yare) in the Miranda Statethis Wednesday afternoon.

Officials from the Prevention and Security agencies reported that the explosion began in the back of the paint factory, where the tanks containing the chemicals used to prepare products such as adhesives, solvents, waterproofing agents, among others, are located.

The firefighters commissions, under the command of Major Jesús García, regional chief of the Valles del Tuy, proceeded to put out the flames, with the support of private tankers, the Mayor’s Office of the Simón Bolívar municipality and other institutions that provided tank units to put out the flame.

The uniformed officers reported that the explosion occurred in a 4,000-liter solvent tank and the fire spread to the other fuel tanks.

Immediately, the smoke spread throughout the perimeter of Yara and, in addition, the smoke was observed in the communities of Ocumare and Santa Teresa.

It was up to the members of the Bolivarian National Guard, Miranda Police, Civil Protection, Municipal Police and Unes students to protect the place to prevent pedestrian and vehicle access.

The authorities indicated that there was no loss of life and the fire did not cause damage to other nearby companies. There was only material damage inside the Reinco paint factory. For the moment, officials are still doing cooling work to finish suffocating the flames and smoke.
