The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) will donate equipment to the Uruguayan government for a value of US$ 700,000 for the National Vaccination Program.
Costs cover “latest generation” equipment to maintain the cold chainfor a value of US$ 600,000, and a mobile vaccination that “complies with biosafety standards” for a value of US$ 100,000.
The objective is to be able to ensure “the cold chain at all points of the logistics processfrom their arrival in the national territory until the very moment of the administration of vaccines,” says an institutional statement.
The cooling equipment will be donated in conjunction with the Canadian government. Instead, the mobile vaccination is acquired in partnership with the United States government.
The vaccination has “autonomy” to “be used anywhere in the national territory.” It has its own generator and powered air for “to benefit the most remote and vulnerable populations”they indicated in the statement.
