PAHO made itself available to the government after ruling that suspends vaccination of minors

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) transmitted to the Uruguayan government his support for the vaccination plan and made himself available to the authoritiesaccording to official sources told The Observer this Thursday afternoon.

Judge Alejandro Recarey ordered “the immediate suspension of vaccinations against Sarscov 2 (covid 19) to children (under 13 years of age). Under apprehension of contempt,” says the ruling that consigned The Observer.

The Minister of Public Health, Daniel Salinas, published a letter on his Twitter account where he indicates the consequences, in his opinion favorable, of the vaccination plan in Uruguay.

Meanwhile, the secretary of the Presidency, Álvaro Delgado, assured that the Executive Power is preparing the “immediate appeal” of the ruling.

“The decision of this judge puts in Justice the possible affectation of health,” he added at a press conference. “This ruling is nonsense,” he said, recalling that vaccination is voluntary.

The government suspended vaccination in this age group because, according to Delgado, the administration “respects justice,” but hopes that after the appeal the situation will only remain an “unpleasant anecdote.”

“For Uruguay, this is an inadmissible argument,” said the secretary, noting that the decision goes “against what science says and against what is happening in the world.”
