The sector vice president of defense and sovereignty, Vladimir Padrino Lópezannounced on Sunday the execution of the Cumanagoto 200 Integral Defense operation in the Sucre state.
He explained that the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, ordered the withdrawal of the forces and means of the campaign maneuver that took place on the island La Orchila, where the Caribbean Task Force 200 operated, “a complete, successful exercise.”
“We are in a replication phase so that from now on, following the instructions of our commander in chief, let’s go to the Sucre state with its 15 municipalities (…) four quadrants, 60 URRAS (rapid reaction units) will occupy the territory of the 15 municipalities to recognize, to clean the area,” said the Minister for the defense.
He recalled that from Trinidad and Tobago «a lot of smuggling of fuel, weapons, ammunition, a lot of people trafficking; All this happens there on that axis between Macuro, La Punta, the Promint of Paria and Trinidad and Tobago ».
«We go there to clean that of any terrorist band, drug trafficker, which is illegally operating in that territory. It is an order of our commander in chief, and the strategic commander is fulfilling it and is guiding all the means, all the forces so that this Cumanagoto Operation is fulfilled in the Eastern Caribbean, ”he said.
He highlighted the effort of security agencies to contain the mafias of trafficking in persons, smuggling of fuels and food, as well as drug trafficking. «Recently, we could see there the export of weapons, when we could detect the introduction of collective weapons, launches, rifles, grenades. What will be the intention of that? What do they pretend with that? ”He questioned.
Operation details
For his part, the commander of the Strategic Integral Defense Region (Redi), M/G Juan Sulbarán Quintero, explained from Carúpano that in this operation the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), in popular, military, police fusion, “is conducting military operations and joint, unified and integral actions” in the entity.
He noted that the Joint Task Force is made up of seven task groups: land, maritime, aerospace, special forces, military engineering, intelligence and electronic warfare and internal order.
“This comprehensive defense operation is carried out to occupy, ensure and control the territory of the Sucre State, to block to channel or isolate the enemy, which leads to dismantling its organizational structure and logistics system,” as well as capturing or neutralizing its members and eradicating the criminal activity they perform in the region, such as: drug trafficking, smuggling of food extraction and strategic material Weapons, ammunition and explosives, as well as other punishable activities »that affect the peace of the population.
Sulbarán stressed that among the operational activities carried out are the patrol of recognition and combat, terrestrial, maritime and aerial patrols, of land, maritime and aerial exploration, control points and blockade in road axes, air recognition with drones, among others.
Balance of the FANB deployment in communal circuits
The minister also presented a balance of the day “The barracks go to the town” with the deployment of the FANB, held on Saturday, highlighting the participation of the population in the 5,336 communal circuits of the country in “Perfect military, police, popular fusion.”
He also reported that in the morning “I received the account point signed by our commander in chief forming the 335 areas of comprehensive defense, one for each municipality. We could see in the territory, in the communes, the communal units of combat militia, organic units, armed, with special purposes of defense ».
He described the day as a milestone and remembered words from Commander Hugo Chávez about the mass participation of the people in tasks of the defense of the territory. “We are developing and training in a time of peace to himself, at some point the American imperialism dared to step on this sacred soil, every man, every woman, has a mission, a weapon and a territorial space, a place to make the defense,” he emphasized.
He stressed that they found in the different regions the commitment of the people with the defense of the country, showing popular cohesion and combative attitude.
