Padrino López: Venezuela was the laboratory for using unknown weapons

“Venezuela was the laboratory for using unknown weapons,” stated the sectoral vice president of Defense and Sovereignty, G/J Vladimir Padrino López, pointing out that during the military aggression carried out by the United States (US) against the country on January 3, weapons were used that had never before been used on a battlefield, as revealed at the Davos Forum (Switzerland) by US President Donald Trump.

This statement was made by Padrino López during the ceremony of delivery and reception of the management of the military academies of Venezuelacelebrated this Thursday, in Fuerte Tiuna, in Caracas.

«In this same space in which we find ourselves at this moment (referring to Fort Tiuna) a military aggression was committed by the world’s first nuclear, lethal power. As President Donald Trump said expressly and clearly yesterday, from Davos in Switzerland, from the World Economic Forum, that they had used weapons that had never been used on a battlefield, weapons that no one in the world had. And those weapons, that technology that they used against our people on January 3, 2026, Venezuela has turned out to be the laboratory where that aggression ended in what we already know: the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, the first lady, the doctor and deputy Cilia Flores,” said the senior officer.

On the other hand, Padrino López urged M/G Pérez La Rosa, rector of the Bolivarian Military University of Venezuela (Umbv), that within the framework of the Ayacucho Transformation Plan a review must be carried out “to adjust our capabilities in the midst of the independence and anti-parialist character.”

«We have to carry out the review to adjust within our capabilities, within our independence and anti-imperialist character; continue making adjustments so that our educational system is not only limited to training combatant soldiers. The Umbv has to form social, human entities that look much further ahead, because war today is in the minds of each of us. So war is today, I can say, a cognitive fact that must be studied; “We must prepare the Fanb for the new challenges of this century,” he expressed.

Regarding the changes made in the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (Fanb), he said that they are due to “giving continuity and coherence” to the development and strengthening policies of the military body in “all its aspects.”

He specified that the Fanb maintains its honor and dignity intact, and asserted that its duty has been fulfilled. He demanded that the head of state, Nicolás Maduro, and his wife, Cilia Flores, be returned to their homeland.
