Padrino López: The people of El Castaño count on us the FANB

The Minister for Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, supervised this Tuesday the deployment of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) in assistance to the population of El Castaño, in Maracay, Aragua state, after the avalanche this Monday as a result of heavy rains.

From the site, the Minister said that officials are “moving machinery, moving troops, to serve our people,” said Padrino López through a message with a video of the tour of the area on his account on the social network Twitter.

«We accompany our Commander in Chief, who came personally to accompany the work being done for the people. It’s the weather again, climate change. We must be willing to give answers », he added during his tour.

«We have to be ready and give an early response to any event in any part of the territory that arises. The people are counting on us, on their Armed Forces, on President Nicolás Maduro,” he added.

President Maduro attentive

For his part, the President of the Republic, Nicholas Maduroconfirmed that he is attentive to the situation in the El Castaño area.

250 Civil Protection officials

For the emergency, 250 Civil Protection officials and the Fire Department, the National Risk Management System are on site assisting the population of El Castaño, said the minister. Remigio Ceballos On twitter.

“We are not going to withdraw from here either until this is calm again. The people can rest assured that we are working on the site,” said Ceballos after touring the entire sector, also together with members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB).

Overflow of the El Castaño River

This Monday there was the overflow of the El Castaño river and the Palmarito creek in the Girardot municipality, in the state of Aragua, a situation that produced an avalanche that flooded homes, streets, and dragged vehicles, trees and everything in its path.

So far, in addition to the heavy material and service losses, three deaths have been recorded.

This town, also affected by heavy rains, is 50 minutes from Las Tejerías, where recovery and rescue work is being carried out after the landslide that occurred last Saturday, October 8, which left more than 50 dead.
