The sectoral vice president of Defense and Sovereignty, Vladimir Padrino López, reaffirmed that the “objective, path and most sacred good” of the Republic, after independence, is to maintain peace. A task where the Bolivarian National Armed Force plays a fundamental role to guarantee territorial integrity.
In that sense, he recognized that President Nicolás Maduro spared no efforts to achieve, through dialogue, peaceful solutions to address differences “and avoid bloodshed at all costs.”
After the constant threats that the country has suffered from the United States – which has carried out an unprecedented military deployment in Caribbean waters since last August, and which finally dared to attack the country’s sovereignty by carrying out the bombing on January 3 and kidnapping the Venezuelan head of state along with the first lady Cilia Flores -, the Minister of Defense also said that Fanb remained focused on “deterring an imminent aggression”, and that objective was partially achieved.
“Although our sovereignty was violated, today there is no armed foreign soldier occupying this land,” Padrino López stressed, through a publication on his Telegram channel.
The Fanb remains loyal to the Constitution to preserve democratic institutions, as the minister has declared on several occasions. Furthermore, he has invited all political actors to properly interpret the historical moment that the country is experiencing.
Recently, the military institution recognized the acting president Delcy Rodríguez as its commander in chief, who “has decided bravely and forcefully to make her way through Bolivarian peace diplomacy” to maintain the stability of the country and preserve its territorial integrity.
In this context, Padrino reiterated that the president in charge has the full support of Fanb.
