After his recovery, ‘Paco’ (a Creole breed) joined Kratos (Belgian Shepherd), Rafa and Polo (Labradors) and two other puppies who are in the training stage to provide emotional support to those wounded in combat. .
The dogs walk through the rooms in the company of their guardian to be petted by the sick, a therapy that has been useful to many who are in a stage of recovery and medical evolution.
«It seems to me that this implementation helps us a lot, since animals are a very strong help psychologically»said Second Lieutenant Jenny Masmela Carvajal, who was injured in combat.
In each session with the dogs, stress is reduced and the emotional state of the patients is improved: “It gives us great joy to see the puppies and one begins to shake their hands.”
