Pacifying My Neighborhood Program begins this Monday, December 12 at the “Yuyín” Luzcando Gym

The governor of the province of Panama, Carla García, gave details of the Pacifying My Neighborhood program that begins this Monday, December 12 at the Eugenio “Yuyín” Luzcando Gymnasium in Betania with the support of the Ministry of Government and the Ministry of Security, with in order to lower crime rates by exchanging weapons and ammunition for vouchers that can be exchanged in supermarkets and shops.

Regarding the places where this program will be carried out, the governor informed that this week there will be different points where they will be carrying out this program “we start today Monday, December 12 and Tuesday, December 13 in Betania from 9 in the morning to 3 in the afternoon, on Wednesday On the 14th we will be at the Santa Marta Sports Complex, while on December 15 and 16 we will be at the Don Bosco Sports Complex,” said García.

Between December 2021 and March of this year, this program delivered redeemable vouchers for the sum of B/. 126,397.05 where a total of 459 firearms, 39,788 ammunition, 417 suppliers were delivered in 4 months.

He also recalled that this is a confidential exchange “each weapon taken from the streets is a life saved, this is a completely confidential process that does not require the person to present documentation to be able to deliver a weapon and thus we help prevent violence in our country,” Garcia said.
