Nicolás Pachelo, the main defendant in the crime of María Marta García Belsunce, murdered almost 20 years ago by six bullets to the head at her home in the country Carmel de Pilar, denied this Thursday that he was related to the homicide, declaring for the first time in the trial to which he is subjected for that fact along with two former security guards.

“I am totally oblivious to the accusations, I never had a discussion with María Marta. I never had a dialogue, I did not know her”, He said when sitting down to testify before the Oral Criminal Court (TOC) 4 of San Isidro that he is being judged for “robbery and aggravated homicide criminis causa.

Pachelo took advantage of the occasion to also refer to the death of his two parents, both cases closed by the Justice as suicides, Despite this, in the first hearings of this trial, some witnesses raised doubts about the possible relationship of the accused with them.

As defense sources anticipated to Télam this Thursday, Pachelo focused his statement on answering witnesses who linked him to other criminal acts prior to the Carmel crime and refused to answer questions from both the prosecution and the individual affected.

In that sense, denied having kidnapped the Labrador retriever “Tom” that María Marta and her husband Carlos Carrascosa had as a pet, for which they were made a ransom demand that they did not pay and that they were never able to recover.

In relation to this fact, before the accused sits down to testify, he did so as witness Florindo Cometto, a breeder of rottweiler dogs from the town of Villa Rosa, who confirmed today that Pachelo left in his care a black Labrador with the same characteristics as María Marta’s pet, saying that it belonged to his brother and that he never went to look for it and ended up selling.

“I never took him a Labrador. Either he is lying or he is confused. I returned a Rottweiler that I had bought him,” Pachelo said to deny the witness.

He clarified that with Cometto he had problems because of his roughness, that to calm the tense relationship they had because he made complaints, he bought two Rottweilers, and that it was one of those dogs that he returned, not a Labrador.

“I gave one to my cousin and the other I gave it back to him because he was brave and aggressive. What (kind of) dog sitter is he, what do they tell him, I leave my brother’s dog to you and he sells it? He never wanted to contact me,” Pachelo commented.

Referring again to the tosquera that he inherited from his father, Pachelo was surprised when she said that one of the neighbors who had the most problems with her was “Fernando de la Rúa”, by the fifth where the late former president lived in Villa Rosa.

Later, referred to the testimony of Mariano Maggi, the car salesman who last Tuesday accused Pachelo of having defrauded him in 2000 by paying him with stolen checks for the purchase of a truck and that as a result of that conflict, the now accused broke the windows of his premises twice and threatened him by saying: “If I had the balls to kill my father, imagine that killing you or your old lady means nothing to me.”

Pachelo said that it is a lie that he was the author of the breaking of the agency’s windows, since it was “a week after” the problem they had with the car and that he was banned months later due to that legal dispute.

Regarding the statements about the death of his parents, Pachelo expressed:

“Because of my father’s death, the police were called, they came two hours after we found him, the prosecutor came, the experts came, all the evidence was taken and the investigation was carried out accordingly.”

“I was there, my father’s wife and my godfather, my father’s brother. We called the police when my father killed himself. We did not prevent the police from being called, nor did we put on the death certificate that he died on the little summit from Córdoba, we did not hide the weapon. We did the same with my mother. Here (because of the trial) people sit down to say barbarities but none say “I witnessed it, I was a witness”, “said the accused.

In this third trial for the crime, prosecutors Patricio Ferrari, Andrés Quintana and Federico González aim to demonstrate that Pachelo killed María Marta with six bullets to the head when she surprised him robbing her house.

According to the prosecutor’s accusation, for this the former neighbor had the collaboration of former security guards Norberto Glennon (57) and José Ortiz (45).
