In a statement, he indicated that once the National Board of Justice (JNJ) appoints the new heads of the Board of Supreme Prosecutors, a session will be called to proceed to elect the new prosecutor of the Nation.
“The Board of Supreme Prosecutors is going through an anomalous situation as it does not have the regular number of its members, so once the National Board of Justice appoints new holders, a Board of Supreme Prosecutors will be convened to proceed with the election of the new Public Prosecutor. I advance that I will not apply for this position “he indicated.
In this sense, Sánchez Velarde reiterated his commitment to work for institutional unity, as well as to strengthen its autonomy and independence to fulfill the constitutional functions entrusted to it.
Likewise, he pointed out that it is necessary to reassess the importance of fiscal work and urged its respect and consideration. He also urged all prosecutors in the country to be unified in their investigative actions and to observe the principles of impartiality, objectivity and hierarchy.
The internal prosecutor of the Nation also urged the prosecutors in charge of emblematic processes to complete “satisfactorily” their investigations and proceed to the formal accusation, if that is the case.
“I also exhort the prosecutors from all areas and specialties, especially those that deal with cases of public interest, to exhaust all their efforts to satisfactorily complete their investigations and proceed to the accusation, if it were the case, affirming the well-coordinated, reserved and team work”he underlined.
“Citizens expect from all of us an efficient, fast, transparent action and with effective results of our investigations”he added.
Finally, Pablo Sanchez Velarde insisted on requesting the high authorities of the State to meet the additional budget demands for the exercise of their investigative work, since “The country’s prosecutors patiently await such support”.
“I emphasize that my work as Public Prosecutor will be temporary, but that will not stop me from making my best efforts in the fight against corruption and other forms of crime, common and organized”he stated.
