In the last few hours, it became known that Paul Moyano, general secretary of the General Confederation of Workers (CGT), would resign from his position. This, after he was excluded from the meeting that President Alberto Fernández held with the other two co-secretaries general, Héctor Daer and Carlos Acuña.
Though Paul Moyano would leave the tripartite leadership of the CGT, the exit of the guild leader It would not mean that Truckers leave the Council of the workers’ union. However, the details of his resignation would be revealed in the next few hours.
As it turned out, Paul Moyano prepares a statement in which he will explain not only the reasons for his resignation from the workers’ unionbut the differences he has maintained with Daer and Acuña.
Even the truck leader would talk about the conflictive relationship he had with the Minister of Labor, Claudio Moroni, with whom he never had a good relationship and who was present last night at the meeting from which Moyano was excluded.
The president had summoned Daer and Acuña to a dinner at Quinta de Olivos, to analyze the possibility of launching a salary bonus for the private sector, in order to compensate for both the complaints of the workers and the loss of purchasing power due to inflation.
There, the Minister of Labor would have expressed to the union leaders his commitment to reopen joint negotiations as many times as necessary. Gerardo Martínez from the UOCRA (Construction Workers’ Union), José Luis Lingeri (Sanitary Works) and Andrés Rodríguez, from UPCN (Union of Civilian Personnel of the Nation) also participated in the meeting.
Meanwhile, Moyano had repeatedly expressed his dissatisfaction with the government, given the lack of measures to combat inflation. “Some sectors of the government show a certain inability to take charge of what is happening”he indicated.
When will Pablo Moyano’s decision be known?
the guild leader He will hold a meeting this afternoon at the headquarters of his union, with his allies from the Trade Union Front for the National Model (FRESIMONA), in order to evaluate his resignation.
If materialized, this afternoon the official announcement would be made and the CGT would have to decide who will replace him; however, this decision would further aggravate the crisis between the unions and the Government, due to salary adjustments.
