Oxapampa: Policeman drowns in Espejo lagoon

A member of the National Police lost his life on the afternoon of Sunday, February 1, after drowning in the Espejo lagoon, located in the Trama sector, Pozuzo district, Oxapampa province. The victim was identified as Yeltsin Sosa Curi, a non-commissioned officer who served at the Oxapampa Police Station.

After the emergency was reported, personnel from the Pozuzo Rescue Team immediately traveled to the scene and began search work. Two specialized rescuers carried out underwater dives in the lagoon; However, the intervention had to be suspended due to lack of visibility and the arrival of night.

Early on Monday, members of the Pozuzo Rescue Team resumed the search, diving into the depths of the lagoon. In one of the attempts, the rescuers managed to locate the body of the police officer, which was later recovered and moved to the shore of the site.
