“That is unfair and violates due process. The Maduro regime not only arbitrarily detained adolescents and young people, it also subjected them to torture, cruel and inhuman treatment during their detention, causing irreparable damage to their physical and mental health,” highlighted the OVP.

He reiterated that in his opinion the State caused severe emotional damage to mothers, fathers and family members, “many of them had to temporarily move states and abandon their jobs to accompany their loved ones in this nightmare carried out by the Venezuelan State.”
The Venezuelan Prison Observatory urged the government of Nicolás Maduro to release without restrictions all those arbitrarily detained before and after the presidential elections in #Venezuela.
He demanded that due process be respected and that the damage caused to so many adolescents and young people, as well as their families, be repaired. “These cases must be documented and presented to the International Criminal Court, since torture, arbitrary detentions, persecution of groups and forced disappearance are classified as crimes against humanity.”
