Our readers chose: Martín Vizcarra is the 'Grinch' 2025

In 2025, traditional Christmas celebrations will end. Between carols, panettones and the typical December heat, the Christmas Peruvian also has her ‘Grinch‘, that character who out of pure resentment wants to ruin these end-of-year festivities.

That is why Peru21 is in search of the ‘Grinch’ of Peruvian reality this year and, although there are almost as many candidates as those running in the 2026 Elections, we have resorted to small surveys from X (formerly Twitter) so that our readers can choose the ideal one for this title this year.

The thing is like this. From this Saturday to Monday, three surveys have been published that bring together four figures from the national reality. Whoever receives the most votes from these polls will go to a grand final that will define the authentic Grinch of this 2025, a certainly hectic year for our country, by the way.

On Saturday, the fight brought together Betssy Chavez, former premier investigated for the 2022 coup d’état and today “asylumed” in the Mexican embassy; Rafael Lopez Aliagawho resigned from the mayor’s office of Lima to try for the presidential seat; Martin Vizcarrasentenced to 14 years in prison and disqualified from holding public office for 9 years; and Fernando Rospigliosicurrent president of Congress who was in the eye of the storm after a complaint for the use of a Parliament chamber for a proselytizing event for Keiko Fujimori.

The results were the following:

With 34.2% of the votes, it was former president Vizcarra who reached the final.

On the other hand, in the second round, those grouped were the herd Dina Boluartethe most unpopular president in recent years who faces several corruption trials (for a change); Alfredo Barnecheaidentified as the beneficiary of an alleged “arrangement” in the internal elections of Popular Action, which led to them not being able to access the 2026 General Elections; Agustin Lozanopresident of the FPF who is blamed for the poor management of Peruvian football that has led us to depressing results; and Lucinda Vasqueza congressman who went viral for the wrong reasons: a photo in which an advisor cuts his toenails in his office.

With 41.4% of the votes, she was another former president, Dina Boluarte, the winner of this contest.

And last but not least, the third group, which brings together Keiko Fujimoricandidate (again) for the presidency in the 2026 elections with Fuerza Popular; Cesar Acunaanother candidate and always questioned for his work as regional governor; Vladimir Cerronthe most wanted fugitive in the country who also, from hiding, seeks the presidential seat; and José Luna, another candidate full of corruption investigations who wants to be president.

The winner of this series, with 54.4% of the votes, is Keiko Fujimori, the leader of Fuerza Popular who will try again to be president of the country.
