"Our priority is to take care of work and salary"expressed the new minister Olmos

Kelly Olmos will be in charge of the Labor portfolio.

The appointed Minister of Labor of the Nation, Rachel “Kelly” Olmosaffirmed this Monday that his responsibility in that portfolio will be “to take care of the work and the salary of Argentine men and women” and that his management will take care of “strengthening” salaries and promoting “dialogue.”

For me, Peronism is a life commitment; I was always trained to assume responsibilities and I hope to do it in the best possible way, as a collective construction with all my colleagues,” Olmos said on El Destape Radio.

He said he will do “what the President asked me (Alberto Fernandez): my responsibility is to take care of the work and the salary of the Argentine men and women, that will be my priority”.

“We are going to work to strengthen the salary, it is the greatest commitment that our Government has, which had to endure very serious situations,” he added.

“I will always be a bridge of unity for all workers.”Rachel “Kelly” Olmos

Asked about actions such as a new call to the Minimum Wage Council or the granting of a fixed salary, Olmos said that “I am not going to advance anything yet, it would not be my responsibility, I am not yet a minister at this time,” but reiterated the intention of “recovering the salary and income of the women and men who work in our country”.

And he assured that “I am going to be consistent with the policy of this Government, which advanced negotiations at the time it was necessary.”

“I will always be a bridge of unity for all workers,” he asserted, and as for the CGT, which is facing internal discussions, he indicated that it will act “with a lot of dialogue and a lot of understanding between all parties.”

Olmos maintained that “the Government has the very firm objective of recovering wages” but also warned that “we have a serious problem as a society that there is a large proportion (of people) in the informal sector who do not have access to work with rights.”

“This sector of informal workers must have access to the rights that their dignity deserves,” he added.

With regard to inflation, he said that “this issue is going to commit and commits the entire Government, that is the point that requires hard and important work from all of us.”

President Juan Domingo “Perón always taught us that when prices go up the elevator, wages go up the stairs, and it is a commitment of all of society to fight inflation,” he emphasized.
