A total of 127 people died in January in traffic accidents in Venezuela, of which 50% were motorized, said a Bulletin of the Road Safety Observatory (OVS) of the NGO Paz Affected released this Saturday, February 22.
Through a press release, the organization indicated that last month registered, At least 332 road accidents in which 127 people diedof which 104 were men and 23 women, while another 512 citizens suffered “some injury.”

He also said that the second place of deceased for traffic accidents in January was occupied by the so -called “barbecue” (13%) – peajeros in motorcycles – followed by pedestrians (12%).
“As for vehicle drivers and their occupants, both groups represented 11% of the total cases computed by the OSV,” he explained.
He also indicated that 3% of the reported cases correspond to cyclists “overwhelming victims.”
MP and traffic accidents
On February 3, the attorney general, Tarek William Saab, announced the launch of the “Drive for Life” plan, with which they seek to reduce the mortality associated with traffic accidents, which – according to the official – is the «index of greater number of deaths »in the country.
According to the head of the Public Ministry, the program contemplates the participation of 24 superior and specialized prosecutors; 40 points of attention to the citizen; 300 Public Ministry officials; 200 civil protection; 24 road classrooms; 120 INTT officials; 45 municipal police; and 480 officials of the Ministry for Health, deployed throughout the national territory and who will be responsible for sensitizing and informing the population about the importance of compliance with traffic regulations.
