Osorio Chong and Ruiz Massieu, against stopping Congress

PRI senators Miguel Ángel Osorio Chong, coordinator of the bench, and Claudia Ruiz Massieu, in separate interviews, spoke out against the constitutional moratorium announced by the presidents of the National Action (PAN), Institutional Revolutionary (PRI) and of the Democratic Revolution (PRD).

Legislative work must not be stopped. I will never be in favor of stopping the Mexican Congress, of stopping legislative work, we must discuss and oppose what hurts the country, what does not workunderlined Osorio Chong.

For his part, the coordinator of the PRD, Miguel Ángel Mancera, stated, in an interview at the conclusion of the meeting of the Political Coordination Board, that despite the constitutional moratorium signed by the Va por México coalition, the Senate will continue with the legislative work . But reforms that affect the country should not be approved.

Ruiz Massieu asserted: “We do not share that vision of canceling the legislative work a priori strictly speaking, but as we have done for all these years: seriously analyze everything that is proposed, no matter who proposes it, and from that start doing serious political and legislative work and define how we will vote for each issue ”.

Former National President of tricolor added: We do not agree (with that decision). We are legislators who have been elected by the people precisely to legislate, to evaluate the proposals for constitutional and legal reforms that are important to Mexicans.

Osorio specified: This decision made by the leaders and some leaders of the Senate is contrary to what we think. The citizens elected us to legislate, to approve, but also to reject what does not serve the country and, of course, this requires analysis, a legislative process, we are committed to it and we are going to do it. In the parliamentary group there are more voices from my colleagues in this regard.

–Will they not be in rebellion with their national diligence?

-I think that the citizenry is going to prove us right, which is what we owe ourselves to. They have never told us to come here to legislate, to collect a salary to not even discuss, analyze any law.

Of course beyond what they even thought our leaders, what interests us is what the citizens think and the work that we must develop.

The PRI added: It is a long process, and here we have opposed many things that the Executive has ordered, many initiatives that go against the interests of the country, of development, of the economy, in social matters, in health, even in security. . So, we will continue in this process.
