In OSE they celebrated the rains that occurred this Wednesday, since it allows them, in most of the localities, to extend the expected period that they had for the possible shortage if the drought continued, confirmed the president of the organization, Raúl Montero, to The Observer. “We are better, luckily,” said the hierarch.
In a water report, published this Wednesday, OSE reviewed the supply in the different locations and evaluated the situation after yesterday’s rain. However, Montero announced that in some locations the amount of water increased considerably. “In Minas, it said that it was until the end of April. Now the flow has increased by 30 centimeters, which means that we extend the supply for a week or two,” he assured. The same thing happened in San José, the level of the Laguna de la Reina rose in some of its basins, which also allows for a better panorama.
Regarding the situation in the field, although the producers celebrated the rains, in most of the country they were insufficient and they expect it to continue raining these days.
Supply town by town
Montevideo and Canelones: The projection of existence of water in Paso Severino is maintained until the end of April. An action plan to reduce the flow to be supplied in the event that Paso Severino reaches critical levels is being analyzed with the managements that intervene in the Metropolitan Region (Metropolitan Management and Central Region Management). Despite the restrictions, and due to the high temperatures, consumption remains high compared to normal for the time.
Saint Joseph: The level of the La Reina lagoon rose, according to Montero. Water is being transferred from downstream of the dam. The supply of the Quian lagoon was cut off. Given the situation of the reserves, the existence of water can be ensured until mid-May.

In Tala, the pump that allows water to be brought in from downstream is in operation. It is estimated that it will last a week. Steps have been taken to be able to take raw water from the system owned by the Sociedad de Fomento Tala in the town of Bolívar, for which a pipe of about 800 meters is required.
In San Ramón, the provisional intake point has been modified.
Florida: lhe Sauzal de los Cerros dam is still closed, with a 30-day reserve. Work is being done only with the flow of the Santa Lucía Chico river.
