The Minister of Economy Oscar Graham He pointed out that Majes Siguas would generate more than US$/1,000 million in exports for the Arequipa region. In addition, more than 22,000 jobs during the construction and operation stage.
“The Majes Siguas project is an emblematic project for the Arequipa region, which will generate more than US$/1,000 million in exports. In addition, it will generate more than 8,000 jobs in the construction stage and more than 14,000 jobs when it comes into operation”, said the head of the MEF during the XVII Council of Decentralized Ministers in Arequipa.
Execution of works
Graham also mentioned that in Arequipa the execution of investment projects is 24%, but in the Regional Government it is only 17% and in the National Government 16%. “That’s why we have to work to be more efficient and reallocate those resources that are not being used.”

In this sense, the minister highlighted that technical meetings have been held in order to prioritize these assignments. Likewise, to prioritize the works that are already in the process of being executed and that are closer to being finished.
“There are always works that are going to run out of funding, but you have to make the best effort to make the most efficient use of resources”he added.
